slow computers

can people give me some reason why a computer running windows xp & that has more than 79% of free disc space would be slowing down. i have ! la1te/t version of my software1 & i believe that the problem is spyware. any ideas?

It could be Spyware. I have Windows XP also, and, although I don't think it matters much wich OS your running, I also try to clear out my Internet cookies, files, and history. That's helps a little, but I can't think of what else would make the computer slow. Unless maybe if the computer itself is old. Like I think they say the higher the Pentium number thing, the faster the computer will be. I think I have a 4, so mine isn't that slow, but I'm really not an expert on all the details of this either.

this problem might be solved soon, i sent my computer in to the shop, so we will s"e what happens. will post results

blindguy, it could help people, use your head. anyway, it turns out it wasn't anything, no way to be sure except to check.

thhis might help with the computer being slow. you need memory or xp is a bit to much for your pc. xp takes up alot of memory usage.
to help on some other stuff you could get off your pc? try xcleaner
it's a good program.

Bump.
It really odes not all depend on your diskspace, although windows does say that it would like 3 gig to run well.
What specs is your computer?
you could try disk cleenup, which is allright.
Also try looking for spywhere or something.

could be a ram issue too. you didn't mention that.
